Congratulations Jazmin!
Jazmin Ghent, a senior and saxophonist at Sparkman High School, received a bronze medal in the instrumental, contemporary music category at the recent NAACP ACT-SO national competition. ACT-SO, the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics, is a major youth initiative of the NAACP.
Gold, silver and bronze medalists were announced during the NAACP's 30th anniversary celebration of ACT-SO on Aug. 3 in Orlando Fla. In addition to her medal, Jazmin was selected as one of three students - chosen from 750 contestants - to perform at the awards banquet at the conclusion of the competition.
Jazmin also attended the recent 2008 Key Club International Talent Competition in Denver, where she was named the overall winner.
